WBR Muncie has awarded scholarships to two graduating high school seniors since 2015. Recently, WBR Lima began a similar program, awarding $1,000 to two seniors from Delphos, OH. Each scholarship is named after a long-time sports broadcaster from the respective area. Morry Mannies, a previous owner of WLBC, was the “Voice of the Cardinals” for 56 years, covering more than 5,500 Ball State and high school football and basketball games. Rick Miller retired in 2021 after over 40 years of calling play-by-play in West Central Ohio.
“This scholarship is one of my favorites here at Woof Boom. High School Sports is all about the student-athlete experience. Each year is very difficult to choose winners because of what these athletes achieve on and off the field/court. Proud to be a part of this process for the last 8 years” – Mark Foerster, Muncie, IN.
“To Say that WBR made the day for 2 high school seniors in Delphos recently is an understatement.” – Bob Ulm, Delphos, OH.
