Back Home in Indiana, But Really Ohio

Mr. Weatherman, Paul Poteet, is featured in every Woof Boom Market

The first thing I did for Woof Boom was join WERK FM in the afternoon, shortly after the switch to The New Sound (from oldies to variety/classic hits) was made. I celebrated my 9th anniversary with WERK last February. I’ve also provided weather to WERK from the start. It’s actually the second time I’ve been on 104.9. I worked a year at the turn of the century (!) for a previous owner, doing afternoons on “Hit Radio” 93.5 and 96.7 and doing weather for WERK and WHBU.

A few years ago, I was given the chance to do the morning show on WLQQ in Lafayette. Again, this was not my first time on a frequency. I was very involved (weather and the afternoon show) in WGLM, which had a lot of success in the 90s in Greater Lafayette at that spot on the dial.

The latest chapter began in 2024. I began providing weather on all Indiana stations and did the same for our Ohio stations. I’m proud to say I’m holding my own against Rick, Bob, and Jocko on Fun in the Mornings, live on WDOH. Soon after adding the Indiana stations, my webmaster texted me to say Paul Poteet dot com was getting bombarded with hits. He checked for malicious activity and didn’t see anything. He asked if there was some crazy weather I’d been posting about suddenly. I said the only thing that was new was that I’d just picked up five radio stations the prior week. He never did figure out the one-day spike, but I’m just going with the theory that it was a Woof Boom Bonus.

“Just two Huntington boys who came together to make it big in Muncie! No joke, I think Paul is the best DJ I’ve ever heard. So natural. So witty. Yeah, he’s on TV, but in his heart, he’s a radioman first. And we are incredibly lucky to have him. I tell everyone our bit weekday mornings at 8:05 am on WERK-FM is the best local radioaround.”  – Jay Garrison, Program Director and On-Air

“I wish you could hear me say this, to know it’s NOT sarcasm. If all Paul did for us was weather, it would be amazing. But having him on from 6a-10a M-S is such a plus for Q106-7. I have been in radio for over 30 years, and I have NEVER worked with a more talented broadcast personality” – Jim Stone, Managing Partner
