My Journey Into Radio

By Heather Crouse

Walking into the radio station at 800 E. 29th Street 9 years ago, I really had no idea what to expect. I had never even toured a radio station, none the less worked for one. I have lived in Muncie for 14 years, been married for 13 and have an energetic 10 year old son. My position was only supposed to be temporary, however, it continues to this day. I am the voice that greets you on the phone at Woof Boom Radio. I am also the person that welcomes you to our building when you come in to claim your prize, or inquire about an ad you heard and when you come in to record your commercial. In writing my first blog, here’s what I know to be true about radio.

Every single day I am amazed and in awe at how powerful a tool radio is and the involvement Woof Boom Radio has with this community. On a daily basis, we receive requests from people in the community asking us to announce their fundraisers, community events, school activities and countless other happenings taking place. We can even help some people reconnect with their lost pets through our Pet Detective program on our website- only a local station could do that for you! At any given time, you can visit any of our station’s websites and see numerous events taking place that you can take part in. I believe that by sharing all of this information, it not only informs people but gets them involved too! I am proud and excited to be working for such an involved company that puts community involvement first.

“We are our customers’ best marketing partner.” This is an important part of the company’s mission and could not be truer. Our community and surrounding areas are booming with local businesses striving to get their name out there. I have personally taken calls from listeners new to the area saying they heard an advertisement on our station and would like more information. Our customers are what make our local radio stations so great!

People often ask me if I enjoy working at the radio station. My response is always the same: Yes, I truly do enjoy my job. I get to work with some really great, talented, funny and knowledgeable individuals. I love the fact that I get to talk one-on-one with local people from the community and with our customers doing business with Woof Boom Radio. Consider advertising on our stations and see what a locally-owned, community driven company can do for you and your business!
